This notice explains how information is handled when you visit The Hollow Gospel website, join its newsletter, or submit a privacy request.

1. Who is responsible

The controller of the personal data described in this notice is Eugen G. Barbu, an independent author based in Romania.

You can contact the controller through the privacy request form below. The form routes requests privately without publishing the personal email address used to receive them.

2. Information processed when you visit

Netlify hosts this website and may process technical request information needed to deliver and protect it, such as your IP address, browser information, requested page, date and time, and security-related logs.

The purpose is to provide the website, maintain its availability, prevent abuse, and investigate security incidents. The legal basis is the controller's legitimate interest in operating a secure and reliable website.

3. Privacy-focused analytics

This site uses Umami Cloud to understand basic use of the website. Umami does not use analytics cookies or track you across unrelated websites. It processes page paths, referrer information, browser, operating system, device type, country, and visit timing. It generates a session identifier from the visitor's IP address, user agent, and this site's identifier; the raw IP address is not intended to be stored as an analytics field.

Query strings and URL fragments are excluded, the browser's Do Not Track preference is respected, and tracking is restricted to the public Hollow Gospel domains. No names, email addresses, form messages, or other custom personal information are intentionally sent to Umami.

The purpose is to measure readership and improve the website. The legal basis relied upon is the controller's legitimate interest in obtaining limited, privacy-conscious audience statistics. Analytics data should be retained for no longer than 12 months once that retention setting has been confirmed in the Umami account.

You may object to this processing through the form below. You can also enable Do Not Track in your browser, which this site's analytics configuration respects.

4. Newsletter

If you choose to join the newsletter, the site sends the email address you provide, the time of submission, and associated consent and delivery information to MailerLite. MailerLite may also record delivery, opening, link, unsubscribe, and anti-abuse information as part of operating the mailing list.

The purpose is to send release alerts, cover reveals, occasional extras, and related news about The Hollow Gospel. The legal basis is your consent. The checkbox is not selected in advance, and you can withdraw consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in an email.

Your active subscription information is retained while you remain subscribed. After you unsubscribe, limited suppression information may be retained so that your opt-out is respected and legal obligations can be demonstrated. Newsletter information is not sold.

5. Privacy requests

If you use the form below, the website processes your email address, selected request type, message, submission time, and anti-spam information. Netlify receives and stores the submission and can send a private notification to the controller.

This processing is necessary to respond to your request and comply with data-protection obligations. Completed requests should be removed from Netlify within 90 days, unless limited information must be retained longer to establish that the request was handled or to meet a legal obligation.

6. Service providers and transfers

The principal service providers are Netlify for website hosting and form handling, MailerLite for newsletter subscriptions and delivery, and Umami Software for privacy-focused analytics. These providers process information under their own security and contractual arrangements and may use sub-processors.

Some processing may take place outside Romania or the European Economic Area. Where required, the providers state that they use recognized safeguards for international transfers, such as adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. Browser storage and cookies

The website does not intentionally set advertising cookies or use cross-site behavioral advertising. Umami analytics is configured without cookies. The MailerLite subscription script that previously loaded automatically has been removed; information is sent to MailerLite only after you submit the newsletter form with the required consent selected.

Hosting and security providers may use strictly necessary technical mechanisms to deliver and protect their services. If a future feature introduces non-essential cookies or similar browser storage, it should not be enabled before appropriate information and consent controls are added.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to your personal data, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability, and may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Romanian National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing, the ANSPDCP.

Requests are normally answered within one month. Limited additional information may be requested when reasonably necessary to verify that a request concerns you. Do not send passwords, payment details, identity documents, or sensitive medical information through this form.

9. Automated decisions and children

The controller does not use the information described here to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. This adult dark-fantasy website and its newsletter are not directed to children.

10. Changes to this notice

This notice may be updated when the website's services or legal obligations change. The date at the top identifies the current version.
